Since its inception last October, the Fashion Freak Show draws the crowds. In the form of a review where parading a troupe of fifteen dancers, models and circus, Jean Paul Gaultier reveals and tells its thousand and one lives together on stage its mode, its blows of heart, but also his meetings and his accomplices.
It is therefore quite natural that in this month of January, the famous pin-up american Dita Von Teese has joined the ranks for the seven exceptional representations. The desire to participate in the show of the designer does not date from yesterday. “There are more than two years, I had dinner with Jean Paul Gaultier and he mentioned the idea of being part of the show,” says the star of the stripping. “But when the Fashion Freak Show started in October last year, I myself was on tour. By discussing, we managed to find a niche so I can join the troop for a half-dozen dates.”
When Dita said yes
By mixing two themes that he particularly likes – the mode and the review, Jean Paul Gaultier takes us through a twenty paintings in his original universe and festive. Dita Von Teese would not have missed it for anything in the world. “Last November I came to a few performances at the Casino de Paris and I was able to see the Fashion Freak Show ” she says . “Anyway, even if I hadn’t attended the show, I would have said yes to this collaboration because I know what Jean Paul is capable of. I love what he does and I knew that this would be great, happy and funny.”
In the show, and Dita Von Teese performs a number of stripping inspired of his shows. It also appears here and there in other tables. In the first part, she joined first the parade in the small black outfit, and then integrates the sequence that takes place in London. In the second, she arrives on stage dressed in a tuxedo and begins an irresistible striptease on the languorous It is a man’s man’s man’s world . It doesn’t take much to trigger applause. A few minutes are enough to panic the public already conquered and enthusiastic.
Between technical effects, lavish costumes and pop anglo-saxon it is, the time of the show, transported in an otherwise furious and inflamed to the extent of the designer. We go out of the Folies Bergère delighted and inebriated.
