This is the first application to the gourmet world to identify the institutions owned and run by women. Maria Canabal, the origin of this initiative, is not a pétroleuse or a Femen. Blossomed and solar, this former lawyer of Spanish origin, now a journalist specialized in the art of living, and author of several cookbooks, award-winning, has been recognized by the Foundation’s Women’s Week as the “woman of the largest and most influential of gastronomy” in 2015. It is in fact for the last four years the founder of Parabere, a forum international gourmet that puts women in the spotlight.
a Strong network of thousands of women across 40 countries, the platform is non-profit it relays their word, in an annual event that takes place over two days, in a country different each time. And for more impact, it was always held the weekend preceding women’s Day, celebrated on 8 march. Its fifth edition will therefore take place on 3 and 4 march 2019, in Oslo, Norway, on a theme full of promise: “Change the game.”

This will be an opportunity for Maria Canabal to introduce some 400 participant(e)s the recent application “Parabere Gourmet City Guide”, logical extension of the platform. “Founded in 2015, our database lists more than 5000 women: heads, sommelières, producers, baristas, bartenders, bread, scientists, anthropologists, food and experts from around the world, likes to point out to Maria Canabal. Our database is a directory, and a community for all. Over the past five years, we have sent hundreds of members of our network participate in culinary events, competitions, round-tables, universities, foundations, etc., This application is the public version of our database.”
This gourmet guide 2.0. lists for now twelve cities in the world: Bangkok, Berlin, Copenhagen, Galway, Istanbul, London, Melbourne, Mexico city, Montreal, New York, Paris, Sydney. Other capitals are expected to soon join them. The originality of the approach lies in the fact that it is not to identify the only women leaders. What would be the interest?
