world leaders have thought in Paris at the end of the First world war 100 years ago. Together, they walked along the Champs-Élysées to a tribune at the foot of the arc de Triomphe. There, the French President, Emmanuel Macron was standing next to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President, Donald Trump.
In his speech, Macron warned against the Fragility of peace and the dangers of nationalism. “The old demons rise again – ready to your work of Chaos and death to complete,” he said. “If our interests, ‘said the first, what ever happened with the other’ erases the most precious thing that can have a Nation, you can live, that makes you large and that is most important to you: your moral values.”
Macron, the assembled heads of state and government called on leaders to fight for peace and a better world. As a concrete threats, he called the warming of the climate, poverty, Hunger and inequalities. He made himself known explicitly to the German-French friendship, to the European Union and the United Nations.
Among the representatives of about 70 countries and international organisations were also President of the EU Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the government of Canada chief Justin Trudeau. As one of the Last of the Russian head of state Vladimir Putin arrived. He shook Merkel, Macron and Trump the Hand.
