For its 22nd edition, the Paris Photo-2018 brings together 196 exhibitors from 38 countries, from South Africa to Qatar, from Argentina to Romania, from Denmark to China. 44 new compared to 2017, including top-25 holdings. They will be divided into five sectors: the Primary sector, well known to the public that will keep his bearings ; the sector Editions, so dear to photographers and lovers (31 vendors including 4 new entrants), as we are reminded by Kourtney Roy ; the sector Prisms, which focuses on artists in the lounge of honour: Isabel Muñoz at Esther Woerdehoff, Paris, Daido Moriyama at Hamiltons of London, Ellen Carey in JHB of New York (see also Gallery Miranda in the Swamp) ; the sector cURIOSA (Jo Ann Callis, at Rose & Miranda, Santa Monica and Paris) under the balcony of the room of honour ; and the area Films, in the cinema MK2 at the Grand Palais (Suzanne Tarasiève, Franck Elbaz and Françoise Paviot, Paris, Priska Pasquer of Cologne).
About 28 solo shows, always tasted of the organizers to set the tone for a fair where professionals need to defend their stables of artists. These mini-exhibitions are, therefore, of the feats for those who are at risk. a joint initiative of the ministry of Culture and Paris Photo, the women photographers are in the spotlight for this edition 2018. This proposal scope by Fannie Escoulen, independent curator, will lead a course “They X Paris Photo” in the fair (of the historical Julia Margaret Cameron and Lucia Moholy to the feminist of the seventies, Arlene Gottfried, and the young scene in which Leah Belooussovitch) and in Paris (Jeu de Paume, particularly inspired by the women for the latest season of its director, Marta Gili, in the living room Approach, 2nd edition, the Petit Palais at the Fondation Cartier).
