55% of French are attracted by the michelin-starred restaurants. But only 22% are planning to go there this year. It is the result of a survey OpinionWay for the festival Taste of Paris. The reason for this? If 70% of our citizens consider to be financially inaccessible, 51% worry that they do not feel at ease, and 40% are afraid to be bored. Another lesson of the survey, the cuisine would be a generational phenomenon: 62% of 25-34 year-olds are interested in a gourmet experience, and 35% of them are willing to release a budget for this.

All of which encourage the festival of british origin to continue on his way. An appointment that is democratizing the gourmet dining in a festive, casual, and events. Thanks to low prices (6 to 12€ the flat, portions, however, reliance) and leaders present on the stands to interact with clients.

The 5th edition, from may 9 to 12, still under the nave of the Grand Palais invites a number of records of 40 heads (compared to 27 the previous year), of which an ever-increasing number of pastry chefs (21). New kids join the “regulars” and the number of restaurants “turns” rose to four. As every year, the michelin-starred alongside generation Top Chef , palaces and bars to draw a varied panorama of the restoration of paris.

too bad, however, that the cast has only one woman (!), Maëlig Georgelin, pastry of The Little Prince (Morbihan), on the “pop-up” Relais Desserts that invites artisans and pastry chefs from all over France.

Squer, Vérot and the Refugee Food Festival

Several big names in the star have once again responded: Frédéric Anton (Le Pré Catelan), Romain Meder (Alain Ducasse at the Plaza Athénée), Kei Kobayashi (Kei) and Nicolas Sale, who will be accompanied by pastry chef François Perret (Ritz). Among the young chefs of the past by Top Chef return to Pierre Sang Boyer (Pierrre Sang in Oberkampf, Gambey, and Signature), Juan Arbelaez (Yaya, Plantxa, Vida, Rustle) and Denny Imbroisi (IDA and Epoca).

The newcomers are a few surprises: the House Vérot, artisan charcuterie, high-end does not have a restaurant, but four shops in Paris ; the Refugee Food Festival (Ground Control), with the head of the syrian Mohammad Elkhaldy ; Andreas Mavrommatis (Mavrommatis), historical figure of the Greek kitchen at Parties, crowned with one Michelin star in the Ve ; Jean-Edern Hurstel, past also by Top Chef but also in The Peninsula before opening recently Edern and the institution, Fauchon with his head chef, Sébastien Heaps and his pastry chef François Daubinet. The Four Seasons Hotel George V made him an arrival in force with four heads on its stand: The Squer (The Five), Simone Zanoni (George), Alan Taudon (The Orangery) and jimmy Frederick (pastry chef).

the Four restaurants, “multi-heads”

To discover even more of the universe of cooks, Taste of Paris, is ramping up its pop-up “multi-heads”. The school Ferrandi will propose a menu signed by four of his former students: Guillaume Gomez (President of the Cooks of the French Republic), Christian Têtedoie (Lyon), Yann Menguy (baking The Drop of Gold) and Nicolas Bernardé (La Garenne-Colombes). The “Daily Pin” will invite each day a star sweet: Jeffrey Cagnes (Stohrer), Yann Brys (Tourbillon), Christophe Michalak (Michalak Paris) and Philippe Conticini (Cakes of emotions).

Novelty 2019, a restaurant, “Station Managers” will offer the signature dishes of four stellate installed in stations frnaçaises: Eric Frechon (Lazarus),Thierry Marx (The Star of the North), Michel Rostang (The Blue Train) and Michel Roth (the regions of Lorraine in Metz railway station). Relais Desserts, finally, meet Vincent Guerlais (Nantes), Pierre Hermé (Paris), Christophe Roussel (La Baule), Laurent Duchêne (Paris), Cédric Pernot (Chambéry), Jean-Christophe Jeanson (Lenôtre Paris), Arnaud Larher (Paris), Jean-Paul Hévin (Paris), Maëlig Georgelin (The Little Prince – Morbihan), Sebastien Bouillet (Lyon), Pascal Lac (Nice) and Sadaharu Aoki (Paris).

As every year, a hundred craftsmen will offer their products for tasting and sale (cheese, juice, wine, jam, tea, oysters, ham, olive oil, ice cream, balsamic vinegar…), while demonstrations and workshops will animate the four days. 30.000 visitors are expected, so it takes a bit of patience to enjoy!
