The standards for CO2, more and more draconian, are disrupting the market of high-end vehicles and sports. The gasoline engines are considered to be too emitters of carbon dioxide, and it is increasingly difficult to propose models of a cylinder capacity worthy of the name running in no-lead. So what to do when one wishes to avoid selling gear silent sports, the autonomy issue and the long cooldown? According to Audi, the solution seems to be a return to the diesel, yet in the sights of the authorities.

the brand with The rings is not his first sports vehicle fed to the heavy oil. The SUV, SQ5 and SQ7 are fuelled at the diesel. If we go back a little in time, we remémorera also the amazing audi Q7 V12 TDI, which put a twelve-cylinder 6-liter engine. A mechanical developing a whopping 500 horses, and that almost propel the supercar R8 at the time.

From the outside, The S6 and the S7 TDI to adopt always the more sporty models featuring the famous “S”. The shield redesigned front and massive dual exhaust outlets, among others, will recognize these two sports. As usual in the constructor from Ingolstadt, the interior makes a strong impression with its finish that borders on the no-fault.

Under the hood, the point of madness since these sedans are content to borrow the V6 TDI 3-liter to the SQ5. Coupled with a system of mild hybrid using a turbo with electric assistance, it develops 349 horsepower. This may seem fair compared to what was proposed by the previous milling with its Turbo V8, but the torque of 700 Nm gives an advantage to the diesel mechanics. In terms of performance, the S6 TDI application 5 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h, when the S6 avant (station wagon) and S7 need 0.1 second more.

The imposing twin tailpipes will provide, among other things, to recognize these two sports. AUDI AG/AUDI AG

Even though it is quite honorable, it is far from the figures claimed by the old gasoline models. Not to mention the fact that it will be necessary to draw a line on the mounted system and the sound is intoxicating from the previous grind. But these new techniques make it possible especially to reduce the consumption as well as the release of C02 from these devices. The S6 TDI, for example, would only consume 6.3 liters of diesel to make 100 km, which corresponds to 165 g/km of CO2 (NEDC).

Another advantage of these new models: in addition to the all-wheel drive Quattro, they adopt the rear wheels guidelines for the benefit of dynamism. The S6 and S7 TDI will arrive in european markets in the summer of 2019. In Germany, the starting price is of 76 500 euros for the S6 Sedan, from 79 000 euros for the S6 Avant (station wagon) and 82 750 euros for the S7 Sportback. In other countries, where regulations are more permissive, these Audi sport is powered by a V6 2.9 litres petrol of the RS5, that puts 450 hp to the orders of the driver. Hope that the future RS6 and RS7, if they are renewed, offer engines that are more found on our continent.
