Like every year, our confrere Auto Plus has published, in its edition of Friday, February 1st, the balance sheet of most stolen vehicles in the past year. Good news: thefts from vehicles continue to fall. A little less than 100,000 motorists have made the bitter experience of seeing their car disappear. This represents a decrease of 6.8% compared to 2017.
Renault Clio IV dethroned Smart fortwo
However, the weekly notes that 265 vehicles are still reported every day. The survey shows that the Renault Clio IV is not only the preferred model of motorists in French but also that of the thugs. In the space of a year, the city-French is increased from the second to the first place of the hit parade. It replaces the Smart fortwo, demoted to third place.
Between these two small models, one is the BMW X6. The SUV would have the favor of the rogue as for the attacks in the car a ram to feed the international traffic of resale. The urban Diamond has a locking system-start hand-free, very easy to hack thanks to a case of encoding what we would find for sale in the trade at a price of 2000 euros. It would activate a card blank to the edge of the car and then to the start in just a minute and without damage. Renault is the brand most represented in the top 20. The latest Mégane arrives at the 6th place of this sad ranking; the renault Twingo 1 to the 8th place; the Mégane 3 at the 13th.
Nine French models are among the top 20 most stolen vehicles. The DS3 goes back to the 10th position to the 7th. Second top-selling model in France, the Peugeot 208 takes the 15th place in the ranking. For its part, Land Rover seems to have found the parade to stem the disappearance of the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Evoque. The frequency of their flights is in sharp decline.
