After having opened two restaurants in the United States with Pharell Williams in recent months – Swan to Miami in October and Again in New York in November, Jean Imbert decided to turn his gourmet table Mahogany (last service on Monday), opened fifteen years ago in the Sixteenth, Grandma. From 15 march, this new concept will offer “the best recipes made with his grand-mother.” The decoration will be completely redone by the agency of architecture Workshop Victoria Migliore.
“Since I was 5 years old, I watch my grandma cook. Every Sunday, I go there and every time I have a passion of her recipes and I want to share it with the world! It is one of the main reasons why I decided to do this business. It could, thanks to his kitchen, gathering around her the people she loves. I am so very touched and honored to be able to discover its revenues and all its dishes in the restaurant where she is the chief!” says the winner of season 3 of Top Chef , which also said a few days ago on his account Instagram: “this is the direction that I want to give my life that is saying is going on between the stars and the Usa but which has no flavour without my roots.”

I open a restaurant with my Grand mother in 4 weeks. It’s been 2 months that I’ve been wanting to tell you! Of the shout! I opened the Mahogany, I was 22 years old, I was completely carefree, I still am but anyway.. a resto 22 years ago.. it was crazy in retrospect. And this is 15 years that I am, 15 years ! But since this summer, I asked myself 1000 times the question: what to make of this restaurant? Started White with Arthur, I knew the USA was coming… everyone around me told me : “you’re crazy, sell “, but it is impossible, I’m much too sentimental. And yet it was the logical stop this micro resto lost in Paris. But this micro resto , this is my whole life. Then like every time, or I don’t know what to do, I asked the child of 12 years old that I was what he would have done at my place.. and like a flash, I was with my dad at such place de la concorde, and this child said to me: “I want to open a restaurant with Grandma” A no-brainer, a child dream, to start from scratch and open a restaurant with Grandma! She is the reason I’ve always wanted to do this job and this is the meaning that I want to give my life that is saying is going on between the stars and the Usa but which has no flavour without my roots.

The card, very simple with dishes to share, has been developed at four hands by the head and his grandma. There are dishes that the dean was in the habit to carry and have scored Imbert, from his childhood to today: blanquette of veal, egg snow…. Only composed of French products, whose provenance will be indicated -it will change every two months in order to respect the seasons.
For desserts, Jean Imbert has appealed to his friend, the famous pastry chef Cédric Grolet, the task of creating the map with his grand-mother. “It is a great idea as had John to this restaurant with her grandmother, we are going to make a cake very simple and sharing such as we enjoy at home,” commented the figure of the Meurice.
