The cable car to the klein Matterhorn was no longer able to climb up to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, 3 821 m altitude. In the Face of the Matterhorn, the “stone” iconic (4 478 m) in Zermatt, this grandiose site with a ski area open year-round was stormed the winter as well as summer tourists. A second lift has therefore been constructed, in reinforcement of the cable car. It is a gondola tricâble, the ultimate in high-tech, not more than a fortnight of its kind in the world. Called Matterhorn Glacier Ride by the station in the valais, this little wonder can carry up to 2,000 people at a time.
Not only is it climbs fast – 9 minute climb from the station of departure, a 2-923 m -, but its 25 cabins have a capacity of 28 passengers each.
